InDesign Action Pack 3.02

InDesign Action Pack includes Automator actions for that can be used to automate time consuming desktop publishing tasks, such as catalog production, in Adobe InDesign.

The following actions are included with this product:

Add Pages to InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will add pages to InDesign documents.
· Input: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object
· Output: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object

Close InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will close opened InDesign documents.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Files/Folders

Export InDesign Documents to PDF:
· Description: This action will export InDesign documents in PDF format into a specified output folder. It may optionally be configured to export single-page PDF files.
· Input: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object
· Output: The exported PDF files.

Find and Change Text in InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will perform a find/change in the InDesign documents received as input. If no documents are received as input, or input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

Get All Opened InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will retrieve a list of opened InDesign documents, and pass them as output to the next action in the workflow.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

Get Front InDesign Document:
· Description: This action will locate the front opened InDesign document, and pass it as output to the next action in the workflow.
· Input: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object
· Output: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object

Get Linked Images from InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will retrieve a list of linked images from the InDesign documents passed as input, and output them to the next action in the workflow. If no InDesign documents are received as input, or if input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Image files.

Get Names of InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will retrieve the names of the InDesign documents passed as input. If no documents are received as input, or input is ignored, then the action will attempt to retrieve the name of the frontmost opened InDesign document. Once retrieved, the names will be passed as output to the next action in the workflow (any action that accepts text as input) for further processing.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: The names of the InDesign documents.

Get Paths of InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will retrieve the file paths of the InDesign documents passed as input. If no documents are received as input, or input is ignored, then the action will attempt to retrieve the file path of the frontmost opened InDesign document. Once retrieved, the file paths will be passed as output to the next action in the workflow (any action that accepts files/folders as input) for further processing.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: The file paths of the InDesign documents.

Get Text from InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will retrieve text from the InDesign documents passed as input, and output it to the next action in the workflow. If no InDesign documents are received as input, or if input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Text

Merge InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will merge the InDesign documents received as input. Docments may be merged into the first document received as input, or into a new InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

New InDesign Document:
· Description: This action will create a new document in InDesign.
· Input: N/A
· Output: The newly created InDesign document.

Open Documents in InDesign:
· Description: This action will open documents in InDesign.
· Input: InDesign document files
· Output: Opened InDesign documents

Package InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will package the InDesign documents received as input, and output them into the specified location. If no InDesign documents are received as input, or input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Packaged document folders

Place Images in InDesign Document:
· Description: This action will place images into specified page items in an InDesign document.
· Input: Image paths.
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

Place Text in InDesign Document:
· Description: This action will place text into specified text boxes in an InDesign document.
· Input: Text
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

Print InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will print the InDesign documents passed as input, using a specified print preset. If no documents are passed as input, or if input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Opened InDesign documents.

Save InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will save InDesign documents to an output folder using a specified name. If necessary, a unique suffix will be automatically appended to the saved document name so that existing files with the same name are not overwritten.
· Input: Opened InDesign documents.
· Output: Saved document paths or opened InDesign docuemnts.

Save InDesign Documents as Single Page Documents:
· Description: This action will save each page of the InDesign document files recevied as input into a specified output folder as input as a single-page InDesign document. If no InDesign document files are received as input, or if input is ignored, then this action will attempt to process the frontmost opened InDesign document.
· Input: The InDesign document files you want to separate into single-page documents.
· Output: It will display the separated single-page InDesign document files.

Update Modified Links in InDesign Documents:
· Description: This action will update modified links in InDesign documents.
· Input: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object.
· Output: com.automatedworkflows.indesign.document-object.
