Finder Automator Action Pack 3.01

This action pack extends the power of Automator in Leopard with 20 actions for use with the Mac OS X Finder!

The following Automator actions are included with this action pack:

Add Finder Item Names to Spotlight Comments
· Description: This action will add the names of the files/folders passed as input to the Spotlight comments of those files/folders.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Batch Create Folders from List of Names
· Description: This action will create new folders in a specified output folder, named using the list of names received as input.
· Input: A list of folder names.
· Output: It will display the newly created folders.

Batch Create Sequential Folders
· Description: This action will create a specified number of folders, named sequentially, within a specified output folder. The action also allows for the creation of sequentially named subfolders.
· Input: N/A
· Output: Paths to the main folders created. NOTE: Subfolders created are not included in the result.

Create Internet Location File
· Description: This action will create Internet location files using any URLs received as input.
· Input: com.apple.applescript.url-object
· Output: Files/Folders

Empty Trash
· Description: This action will empty the Trash.
· Input: Anything
· Output: Anything

Filter Finder Items By Size
· Description: This action will scan through the Finder items passed as input. Any items matching the specified size will be passed as output to the next action in the workflow for further processing.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Get Names of Finder Items
· Description: This action will retrieve the names of any Finder items received as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Text

Get Originals of Aliases
· Description: This action will locate and output the originals of any aliases passed as input. If any non-aliases are passed as input, they will also be included in the output.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Get Parent Folders of Finder Items
· Description: This action will retrieve the parent folders of any files/folders passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: The parent folders of the files/folders passed as input.

Get Spotlight Comments of Finder Items
· Description: This action will retrieve the Spotlight comments of the files and folders received as input, and pass them as text to the next action in the workflow.

Hide Extension of Finder Items
· Description: This action will hide the extensions of any Finder items passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Lock Finder Items
· Description: This action will lock Finder items passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

New Subfolder
· Description: This action will create a subfolder inside of the passed folder path.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Quit Application
· Description: This action will attempt to quit the specified application.
· Input: Anything
· Output: Anything

Set Creator Type of Files
· Description: This action will change the creator type of files passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Set File Type of Files
· Description: This action will change the file type of files passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Set Modification Date of Finder Items
· Description: This action will set the modification date of the files/folders passed as input to a specified date.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Show Extension of Finder Items
· Description: This action will unhide the extensions of any Finder items passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Unlock Finder Items
· Description: This action will unlock Finder items passed as input.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Wait for Finder Items
· Description: This action will wait for any passed Finder items to finish writing, before allowing the workflow to continue. This is done by monitoring the size of each Finder item until its size remains constant.
· Input: Files/Folders
· Output: Files/Folders

Limitations:

· Actions running in demonstration mode will display periodic alerts, and are limited to processing a maximum of five items at a time.
