A tool that will help you learn musical harmony and composition. #Learn musical harmony #Learn composition #Compose music #Learn #Music #Harmony
Harmony is a free and open-source tool for students to help them navigate through difficult courses on harmony at music schools. It is able to check whether chords are correctly used – that is, whether or not they obey harmonic rules.
Students can therefore apply the application to their homework, thereby saving not only their own time, but their teacher’s as well.
Harmony will tell students which mistakes they have made. However, it can only be useful to someone who has a thorough knowledge of musical theory and also probably knows the basics of harmony.
The other aim of Harmony is to serve as a tool for people who want to become music composers, making their first steps in composition easier.
Harmony can simplify the composition of chords for everyone, as they no longer need to strain their brains when thinking about harmony.
Detailed instructions on how to install and use the Harmony utility on your Mac are available HERE.
Harmony is a cross-platform utility capable of running on any operating system that comes with Java support (e.g. Mac OS X, Windows, Linux).
