Hewbo’s iMP3Converter OS X application has been designed from scratch to provide the simple and most effortless way to convert almost any video and audio file to MP3.

All that you have to do in order to start converting your multimedia files to MP3s is to drag and drop them onto iMP3Converter’s interface and the app will take over from there for you.

Moreover, iMP3Converter comes with support for batch MP3 encoding which, although buggy when you drag and drop folders containing files that aren’t compatible (e.g. cover art images or text files),  will work as expected by converting the input files one after the other.

Before actually drag and dropping the files to convert, you can adjust the encoding engine’s settings by clicking on the appropriately named “Settings” button. On the slide-sheet that opens, you can customize the encoder used to convert your files to MP3, the output sample rate, the number of channels of the output files, as well as the bit rate.

From the main window you can also quickly setup the output folder using the “Set Destination” button and configure iMP3Converter to automatically add all converted files to your iTunes library once it finishes encoding your files.

After the conversion process starts, iMP3Converter will display a progress bar that will let you know the number and the name of the file that gets encoded, and the elapsed percentage of the whole task.

As a downside, although it manages to do its job fairly quick, once you add too many files to convert iMP3Converter will show why it should have been designed as a multi-threaded app from the very beginning. As it is right now, a single-threaded OS X app, it cannot take advantage of all your CPU’s multi-core processing power.

Everything included, iMP3Converter makes it simple to convert multimedia files to the MP3 audio format with little to no effort on your part. If you know how to drag and drop a file using your mouse, you’re all set.
