Psalms and Ragas for Mac
Religious music is an integrated part of Hinduism and, as a result, Ragas and Psalms are an important part of classic India. Usually, the religious chants are talking about Gods such as Vishnu, Shiva or Parvati and all their incarnations.
Psalms and Ragas is a simple desktop application that provides quick access to a collection of Indian psalm tunes that you can hear rendered by different instruments.
The Psalms and Ragas interface is very well organized: to get started simply select the tune you want to listen to from the drop down menus placed in the top left corner of the main window. You can choose to listen to a Raga, to a refrain from a Psalm or from a Canticle or to one of the songs created at the St. Benedict Monastery.
From the center of the Psalms and Ragas window you can select the instrument you want to use for the rendition and specify how many times should the song be repeated (the maximum amount is 20 times).
In addition, from the left top corner of the main window you can adjust the song volume and its tempo. Psalms and Ragas also offers you the possibility to read the Raga description, note by note.
The bottom area of the main window is reserved to the piano keyboard. This way you can easily follow the song's notes. Furthermore, from the Preferences window you can choose the instruments that will be used when you select the “All” entry in the songs menu.
To sum up, Psalms and Ragas is a straight forward application that contains a wide number of religious Indian songs that will help you learn more about the Hindu culture.
