Musicbox for Mac
Musicbox is a low-key utility specially designed to stream Pandora Radio right from your Mac’s status bar, without distracting or interrupting you while you work.
Pandora Internet Radio is an automated music recommendation service that plays various music genre according to your artist selection and your feedback for the played song. The selection of a track is made based on over 400 different musical attributes which are grouped into larger categories called focus traits. Key tonality, displayed instrumental proficiency, rhythm syncopation and vocal harmonies are just some of the 2000 available focus traits.
Musicbox features a discreet and easy-to-use interface from which you can control the playback, like or dislike the currently played song, view the name of the artist, song and album along with the album art and your rating for the track. What is more, you can create and edit stations, scrobble to Last.fm, match songs in your iTunes library and use the keyboard’s media keys to play, pause, skip and mute the player.
By accessing the drop-down menu, you can view the name of the current station along with the available number of skips. You can also buy the song and analyze the song features and provide positive or negative feedback. The Locate in iTunes option helps you find the song in your music library while the Tweet integration enables you to share and comment about the song you are listening to.
The Preferences window helps you enable or disable options such as “Match songs with ones in iTunes”, “Automatically increment play counts” in iTunes, “Use keyboard media keys”, “Show Growl notifications” and set Musicbox to start at login.
