There are multiple online platforms that allow you to search for and listen to music, but managing your playlists and multiple browser tabs can become tiresome.

Kaku is a relatively simple app that offers a solution to this issue. It is a desktop music player that can stream songs from multiple sources, such as YouTube, Vimeo and SoundCloud.

Kaku offers a simple layout that is easy to understand and navigate. Unfortunately, however, you cannot hide its various panels or resize them.

It would be great if the application could be sent to the menu bar.

You can search for songs on YouTube, Vimeo or SoundCloud and add them to any of your playlists, but it is not possible to modify their position once this is done. As a result, managing your music rather difficult, as you need to create an entirely new playlist if you want to change song order.

Kaku also provides top rankings from around the world, so you can listen to popular songs without having to search for them yourself.

If you want to reduce bandwidth or resource impact, you can disable video playback. The application then plays only the audio track, which is useful if you simply wish to listen to music while performing other activities.

Kaku also allows you to import YouTube playlists and backup your data locally or to Dropbox. Moreover, you can download music videos in the highest available resolution, up to 720p.

This is a useful application that makes it possible to listen to music streamed from various online sources without having to use a web browser. It could do with some improvements, but it is easy-to-use and shows a lot of promise.
