Harmony For Mac

Harmony is a music player designed to help you bring multiple cloud based services under the same roof. The player can also be used to listen to audio tracks stored locally and connects to your Last.fm account for scrobbling.

Right off the bat, Harmony brings up the Settings panel where you must configure various sources for the audio content. Note that you cannot load tracks to the playlist window in any other way.

Harmony provides access to all the tracks stored in a specific folder located on your drive (you cannot work with multiple source directories), or can connect to your SoundCloud, Spotify, or Google Play accounts.

The same area offers you the possibility to log into your Last.fm account and choose to enable the CoverFlow mode which gives you the opportunity to preview the cover art associated with the tracks or playlists.

Harmony keeps your music organized by source or playlist, but via the contextual menu associated with each track you can add any song to the play next list, no matter if you are jumping between different services.

Even though Harmony comes with a search tool designed to help you find songs faster, during our tests we have noticed the function is not at all reliable, so you will have to manage on your own.

Within the Harmony main window, you can promptly start or stop the playback, jump to the next or previous track, or mark songs as liked. You can adjust the volume level, and choose to have the tracks played in a random order.

Bottom line, Harmony provides basic audio playback capabilities, but the innovative element is represented by the fact that you can access multiple cloud-based services without having to switch between different desktop clients or clutter web browsers.
