BarRemote for Mac2.1
Spotify has become fairly popular among Mac OS X users because it comes with a more user friendly approach to music: you have the possibility to listen to streamed media in exchange of a monthly fee.
However, if you do not want to deal with the app’s user interface an disrupt your workflow each time you want to control your playlist, also getting the BarRemote status bar menu application can prove to be a good idea.
The best bart is that BarRemote can control the Spotify app running on the local machine, but can also manage the playback on other Macs connected to your network. In addition, you can also connect your iPhone and use it to control Spotify (you must install the BarRemote app for iOS beforehand).
BarRemote will place control icons on your status bar and you can use them to start / pause the track, go back to the previous track or skip to the next one. At the same time, you can choose to view the controls inside the BarRemote panel.
What’s more, the BarRemote menu panel can display details about the current song and the associated cover art. Put you cursor on top of the track image and you will be able to access extra options: shuffle, repeat, adjust volume or jump to any point in the track.
In the BarRemote Options panel you can choose to allow other devices to control your Mac. Moreover, if you launch BarRemote on other devices connected to your network, the app will automatically detect them and you can select the one that you want to control from a drop down menu.
To sum up, BarRemote is a small but very useful status bar menu application that allows you to control the Spotify media player, regardless if it is running on the local computer or on any other Mac from your network.
