Bahamut for Mac
Bahamut is a minimal and elegant Mac OS X music player designed as a much simpler alternative to Apple iTunes. The application enables you to create playlists, import playlists from iTunes and use a variety of keyboard shortcuts to control the playback.
Probably the best feature of Bahamut is its beautiful user interface featuring a refreshing design and intuitive layout. From the top bar, you can track the song progress and control the playback, the left pane lets you access the playlists and the middle area allows you to navigate the song list.
In order to add songs, you can just drag and drop them onto the main window. Moreover, you can organize them into custom playlists or just list them in the “All Songs” tab. A great advantage is that you can import iTunes playlists with just a click.
Furthermore, the song list displays the title of the track as seen on the local disk, the length, the artist, as well as the album. As expected, you can sort your songs based on a single parameter by clicking on its corresponding column name.
Another benefit of using Bahamut is its support for hotkeys. For example, you can use the Spacebar to play / pause, CMD + “.” to stop, J, K, L and H to play the next / previous song, fast-forward 5 seconds and rewind 5 seconds, respectively.
Additionally to this, the player comes with support for the menu bar, enabling you to activate and customize a menu bar player from the Preferences window. You can choose its font size and what to display (name, artist and more).
In summary, Bahamut is a sleek music player for OS X which combines all the right tools to satisfy the needs of most users. The interface greatly raises the value of the app, but the simple workflow and hotkey support are also noteworthy.
