Audio Recorder a no-frills Mac OS X application specially made to help you record audio using your Mac’s built-in microphone or any other audio source connected to your computer.
Helps you to effortlessly record audio files
The lightweight and user-friendly utility comes with a simple and intuitive interface that makes it easy to start, pause and stop the audio recording process. All three actions can be performed using your mouse or the predefined keyboard shortcuts.
On top of that, Audio Recorder features a volume meter which helps you monitor the audio level of the recorded sound. In addition, you can adjust the sound gain before or during the recording process.
Change the audio input source and capture sound using the preferred device
From Audio Recorder’s main window you can easily change the input source via the drop-down menu, along with the recording profile.
By accessing the Profile window, you can manage all existing ones or create your own profiles with the preferred settings. Thus, you can save your recording as a AIFF, M4A, MP3, MP4 or WAV audio file.
Depending on the chosen file format, you can change the value of the bit rate, sample rate and size and switch from mono to stereo channels. You can add as many profiles as you need and change their settings at any given moment with just a couple of mouse clicks.
At the end of each recording, Audio Recorder automatically pops up a menu that helps you set the directory path for the output file. The Preferences window helps you set the default path for the created files and offers you the option to associate files with QuickTime and reveal them in Finder after recording.
Configure Audio Recorder to name your files following a given pattern
More demanding users can switch to the Advanced tab and provide a naming pattern for their recording, limit the duration of their recordings and split their files at a user-definable time period.
All in all, if you need a lightweight, simple and reliable audio recording utility for your Mac, that you should give Audio Recorder a try.
