Ardour is a straightforward macOS application that helps you record, edit and mix audio from multiple sources with ease.

Thanks to the true tape-style transport, you can use different combinations of master record and individual track arming without any prior setup.

Easily adjust per-track settings of your layered, non-layered or destructive recording modes and take control with individual monitor buttons.

Ardour comes with support for a an unlimited number of tracks, plugins, inserts, sends or buses and your tracks can contain overlapping layered regions, true destructive regions and non-overlapping.

Ardour supports mono, stereo and multichannel tracks, in which case the plugin panner architecture enables you to pan multichannel tracks into buses.

Ardour is compatible with a wide variety of file formats that range from FLAC and CAF to BWF, WAV and AIFF. Moreover, Ardour helps you browse the comprehensive Freesound.org repository in order to find free samples, which can be imported directly into your session.

The advanced non-destructive, non-linear editing feature an unlimited number of undos and redos even when working across different editing sessions. What is more, you can import video files and extract their audio, display their frame-by-frame timeline and export the clip, cut the start/end, add blank frames and mux it using the soundtrack of the current session.

Ardour’s abilities are expandable with the help of hundreds of plugins in LV2, native VST and LADSPA. Ardour also support AudioUnit plugins, fact that allows you to use effects and instruments from iZotope, Waves, u0he, Stillwell, PSP and other popular plugin manufacturers.

When you are happy with the results, you can export to various data and file formats such as OGG/Vorbis, WAV, AIFF, BWF and more.
