ChordAid (formerly known as AltiChord) is a helpful and intuitive Mac application that enables you to browse an exhaustive chord dictionary for various stringed musical instruments such as guitar, bass, mandolin, bouzouki or ukulele.
Thanks to ChordAid you can check more than forty-five chord types that cover both simple chords, as well as complicated ones like the ones used in jazz music, slash chords (Cm/G) included. ChordAid’s advanced algorithms are capable to provide accurate chord charts that you can easily use with instruments in standard and custom tuning.
Moreover, ChordAid allows you to customize the chord structure according to the number of strings featured by your musical instrument of choice and, as a result, view shapes with some intervals omitted.
From ChordAid’s main window, you can quickly and easily display, compare and practice multiple chords at the same time. The displayed chords can be from a song or different variations of the same chord.
What is more, ChordAid helps you change the complexity of the chord shapes based on your skills and, on top of the standard chord shapes, you can try more difficult chord shapes with two barres and big stretching between fingers.
You can select the number of fingers, barres and stretch from the top toolbar and try all the strumming options ChordAid has to offer. Consequently, you can create and experiment with various tunings for instruments with three, four, five and six strings if the desired instrument is not listed.
With the help of ChordAid you can also quickly and effortlessly enter chord symbols thanks to the auto-complete chord entry field and rearrange chords with drag and drop movements. The chord shapes you like the most can be added to your Favorites list and build your own chord library.
In a nutshell, ChordAid is a simple to use chord reference and dictionary designed from the ground up to help Mac users effortlessly generate chord charts, as well as practice and compare multiple chords at the same time with extreme ease.
