MacDefenderKiller is a trojan removal program, which is used to remove a few strains of the “MacDefender” trojan horse that is infecting Macintosh computers.
Running MacDefenderKiller is very easy to do; simply launch the program and it will determine if you have the MacDefender virus (or other strains of the virus).
If you have the virus, you will be able to remove it by hitting “Remove the MacDefender Trojan Horse Software and Components.” If the button is not active, then you don’t have the virus.
MacDefenderKiller searches for the application in the apps folder, any MacDefender downloads in the downloads folder, the startup items folder and the running MacDefender process.
All removed items will be in the trash for you to empty. MacDefenderKiller will then set a preference in Safari that will stop the launch of these “safe” files.
