It’s not a secret that Apple has been trying really hard to win consumers over in China. The Chinese mobile market is one of the loftiest in the world today and even the company’s CEO, Tim Cook, has recognized its importance in Apple’s ever growing expansion.

But how much does Apple really care about China? According to a recent report coming out of Bloomberg, quite a lot.

It seems that Apple is extremely willing to get into the graces of Chinese customers, and in order to achieve this goal, it is willing to incorporate Chinese preferences into its product design process.

You might recall that the advent of the iPhone 5s brought about a new coloring scheme into the equation, of the golden variety.

This particular paint job option might not have been everyone’s cup of tea, as some argued the choice was a bit too extravagant, but in China, gold symbolizes wealth and fortune and customers in this country appreciate this particular coloring scheme.

Apple also offers a rose gold version of the Apple Watch and a gold model for its new 12-inch Retina MacBook. So maybe these products too were inspired by the preferences of Chinese customers.

The Chinese smartphone market is extremely competitive and domestic companies such as Xiaomi have seen a fulminate rise, so Apple needs to find ways to make sure it stays relevant in the country.
