In the SF Chronicle report which mentions Apple’s supposed plans to acquire Tesla, another interesting detail is revealed regarding the company’s plans in health sensors (iWatch).

Apparently, Apple wants to equip the iWatch with a sensor (or a plurality of sensors) that can accurately “listen” to your blood flow and detect anomalies, such as those when a person is about to have a heart attack.

The newspaper claims to have learned from knowledgeable people that “Apple is heavily exploring medical devices, specifically sensor technology that can help predict heart attacks.”

The project is being led by Tomlinson Holman, who is a well-known audio engineer. The guy only invented THX and 10.2 surround sound, but that’s not why he’s at Apple. His role will be to perfect the aforementioned “listening” technique.

“Apple is exploring ways to predict heart attacks by studying the sound blood makes at it flows through arteries,” reads the report.
