iWatch Tests Begin, Apple Hires Exercise Physiologists

Apple wants to “avoid potential inaccuracy and experimental error”

A new job opening at Apple indicates that the company is ready to begin testing its iWatch prototypes in the field. Apple is seeking “User Studies Exercise Physiologists.”

The job description says the new recruit will have to “Design and run user studies related to cardiovascular fitness & energy expenditure, including calories burned, metabolic rate, aerobic fitness level measurement/tracking and other key physiological measurements.”

Apple will be hiring people who really know their stuff, in order to “avoid potential inaccuracy and experimental error due DOE flaws and/or reference monitor (i.e. metabolic cart, etc.) usage issues.”

Applicants will need to have experience with exercise testing, including interpreting results and determining when to halt testing, as well as to have in-depth knowledge of key fitness indicators and effective documentation skills.

The company adds, “The role will need to apply relevant knowledge to the design of products and their testing/validation through user studies.”
