iTunes Match “Censoring” Bug Acknowledged by Apple

Apple engineer replies to email, says fix is on the way

Apple has reportedly confirmed to an iTunes Match user that the company is working to fix a bug in the service that serves up censored versions of songs with explicit content.

Several users have been able to confirm that a great deal of rap songs have had their profanities removed and replaced by radio-edit versions. A 9to5mac reader reportedly emailed Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services to ask if this was, indeed, a flaw on Apple’s side.

The user received a response from one of Eddy Cue’s engineers, who confirmed to him that it was a bug, and that Apple was investigating the issue. A fix is on the way, according to this person. An ETA was not provided.
