Sources in Apple’s supply chain tell Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White that the iPhone 6 could launch as soon as the second quarter of 2014.

In other words, Apple reportedly plans to break its full-year refresh cycle by introducing a redesigned iPhone some 9 months apart from the latest upgrade (iPhone 5s).

Susquehanna Financial Group analyst Chris Caso chimed in to say that his sources also point to a Q2 2014 release of the iPhone 6.

White also said the iPhone 6 would have a bigger display, approaching 5 inches on the diagonal, a prediction shared by fellow analyst Peter Misek, who works for Jefferies.

Apple may or may not break away from its annual refresh cycle, but one thing is certain: the company will soon find it hard to compete in a market flooded by uber-screen smartphones.
