Cowen and Company claims to have learned from industry sources that Apple has “locked down” the design of its next-generation iPhone internally, stopping at 4.8 inches for the screen size.

Analyst Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company tells AppleInsider that Apple will have a 4.8-inch iPhone 6 on the table for September this year. He doesn’t mention a second, larger iPhone (as many other analysts do), but he does throw in something extra: ultra-fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi.

Apple already uses “ultra-fast” to designate the current wireless capabilities of its iDevices, so the company will probably have to up the ante on its epithets for this upgrade.

There’s more. The analyst said he expects Apple to deliver some “key software innovations” leveraging iBeacon, Touch ID, and Passbook, creating a form of e-wallet.
