Apple is allegedly set to launch its low-cost iPhone ahead of the next-generation iPhone 5S, according to a research note from Ming-Chi Kuo, a veteran analyst with KGI Securities.

In a research note dished out to investors, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speaks on behalf of KGI predicting that the iPhone 5S “will experience production difficulties among numerous components as well as assembly, as seen with iPhone 5 last year.”

“The model will thus be available only in limited amounts following launch. We expect undersupply to improve in October or November,” Kuo writes.

The main reason behind the delay is said to be a fingerprint sensor which Apple plans to include with the phone.

Kuo says Apple will actually release its low cost iPhone first (in early September), and that the handset will be priced between $450 and $550 (€340 - €416).
