Citigroup analyst Glen Yeung says the Retina iPad mini is also delayed

Production bottlenecks are forcing Apple to delay two of its highly-anticipated products for 2013, including the next-generation iPhone 5S, which is reportedly slated for October.

Because of certain issues with the phone’s display, Apple has been forced to push back the launch of the iPhone 5S.

Initially scheduled to go on sale in September, it now appears that the handset will launch in October instead.

This much was said by Citi analyst Glen Yeung, who wrote in a note to investors, “With respect to the iPhone 5S, our checks suggest production has been delayed by 2-4 weeks, likely due to display issues.”

“And while this does not preclude a September iPhone 5S launch date, we suspect volumes in September may consequently be challenged,” he notes.

As far as the iPad mini 2 is concerned, Apple is said to have prepared a Retina-enabled version, but that device is also being delayed due to production hurdles.

The same analyst says, “we now believe that iPad Mini Retina has been delayed until late C4Q13 or C1Q14.”
