American retailer Walmart offers killer deals on Apple products

US retailer Walmart is putting forth some competitive prices trying to lure Apple fans away from other retailers, including Apple’s own shops, by selling subsidized iPhone 5s at considerable discounts.

Customers walking into the retailer’s brick and mortar stores will be able to purchase the newest Apple iPhone for as little as $129, whereas the third-generation iPad now sells for $399 (or $100 off) at Walmart. The offer is only available in stores (not online).

The iPhone is tied to a two-year contract with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, but the iPad is free of any carrier subsidies.

It is worth noting that even with the $129 price, Apple’s iPhone 5 is still cheaper unlocked (at $649). Doing away with the two-year carrier contract will still save you more money in the long run.
