American retailer Walmart is selling Apple’s latest iPhone at a discount. The amount is not substantial, but it’s enough to give people an incentive to skip the trip to their local glass-and-wood Apple retail store.

We’re hearing this is a first for Walmart – the retailer is selling Apple’s iPhone 5 with a $10 discount, bringing the cost down to $189.97 (€145) for the 16GB version of the handset. The suggested retail price is $199 (€150), according to the Cupertino, California-based Apple Inc.

Don’t rush out the door just yet. Like Apple, Walmart is only entitled to offer pre-orders at the moment. Shipments won’t arrive until September 21 in the States, and several other territories around the globe.

The handset will ship internationally towards the end of the month. Apple has stated plans to put the phone in the hands of millions of customers in 100 countries by year’s end.
