A report from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo indicates that Apple will further differentiate its large iPad 5 (from the iPad mini 2) by including a more powerful camera.

Rumor has it that Apple is planning to include its new Touch ID sensor in the fifth-generation iPad, and now a report from KGI Securities suggests that’s not all Apple is borrowing from the iPhone 5s.

“Apple could upgrade the camera as a selling point for the new iPad in a bid to increase competitiveness. We expect the upgrade will include 8MP rear camera, up from 5MP, and larger aperture. Lens module ASP will rise 10-20% on this optics spec upgrade,” reports Ming-Chi Kuo, the firm’s renowned analyst.

Kuo is known to have ties to Apple’s Asian part suppliers, so his claims generally hold some truth to them. He’s also one of the most accurate analysts when it comes to Apple’s unreleased products.
