Researcher with investment bank KGI Securities issues his take on the iPad 5

Apple hasn’t confirmed the fifth-generation iPad yet but, in all likelihood, it’s coming. And it shouldn’t arrive any later than Q3 2013, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo’s shipping estimates may be seriously off. Apple has generally refreshed the iPad in spring and, last time we checked, the company actually launched two models in the same year.

But he may be right about one thing – the design. Kuo wrote in a research note that Apple’s upcoming iPad 5 would have a narrow border, or bezel, just like the iPad mini. He also expects the tablet to be “significantly lighter and slimmer,” which is pretty much a given with any new iteration of Apple’s portables (but not necessarily a must).

Kuo fails to include his estimates on the iPad 5’s inner workings, such as the processor, the storage, and the wireless capabilities.
