Quick tip to check if you already own the app you’re about to install

With close to a billion different apps available for iPhone and iPad, it’s hard to keep track of all the stuff you’ve downloaded and installed over the years.

If you’re like me, then you’ve probably downloaded hundreds of apps on different iDevices and forgot half of them even existed. That’s why Apple has implemented a handy feature to give you the heads up when you’re about to download something you already own.

Say, for instance, you want to download a paid app and aren’t sure whether you’ve already bought it or not. Instead of charging you twice, Apple remembers that download and associates it with your iCloud account.

This is why you’ll always see the nice cloud button with an arrow pointing downwards for every app you’re about to re-download from the App Store. Neat, huh?
