The release notes accompanying iOS betas are far from short, but somehow they always fail to mention a few major changes, such as the much-improved Siri in iOS 8.3.
Jordan Kahn offers audio evidence that this is indeed the case in the latest iOS beta. In a 12-second YouTube video, he offers a stark comparison between the current state of affairs and what we’re about to get when iOS 8.3 ships. Notably, Siri speaks more fluently in the new firmware, and even pronounces some words much better than before.
Frankly, I’ve come to find Siri somewhat useless, and my lack of appreciation for Apple’s personal assistant is also tied to the unnatural burst of words in what is obviously an algorithm at work. Give me a Siri that sounds like a real woman is talking to me, and I’ll be on her case 24/7. I think it matters a lot to hear a voice that’s not just bearable but pleasant to the ear.
iOS 8.3 has no release date scheduled, and you shouldn’t expect it to drop any time soon, because iOS 8.2 is also in development, and Apple has to release this one first.
