P0sixspwn author iH8sn0w has confirmed on Twitter that his iOS 6 jailbreak tool is not getting an update to support the newest firmware released by Apple.

I’m talking about iOS 6.1.6, the firmware update rolled out on Friday to address a serious security issue within the underlying software of iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4G units. The same flaw was fixed in iOS 7.0.6 and Apple TV Software 6.0.2.

While the evad3rs quickly patched up evasi0n to offer jailbreak support for iOS 7, iH8sn0w can’t say the same thing about himself and his p0sixspwn jailbreak tool. He writes on Twitter, “Don’t expect an untether update for p0sixspwn for 6.1.6.”

So there you have it. If you’re on iOS 6 and want to keep your untethered jailbreak, better stay away from iOS 6.1.6. On the other hand, if you don’t want “an attacker with a privileged network position [to] capture or modify data in sessions protected by SSL/TLS [on your iDevice],” it’s probably best to update.
