Experienced designer draws up the latest and hottest Apple rumor

It doesn’t take a genius to envision iOS on every one of our home appliances in the next five to ten years, but it does take some serious design skills to make it look as good as this.

Veteran concept maker Martin Hajek clearly reads the news. After rumors broke out that Apple was engaging in some sort of home automation project, he quickly fired up his CAD software and created this striking control panel dubbed iHome, pre-installed with apps that control heat, lights, doors, and even plays you some relaxing music.

Heavily inspired by the iPhone but also resembling a Mac mini, the wall-mounted device would connect wirelessly to your appliances, allowing you to run a hot bath, lock the doors, turn up the heat and set the mood with just a few taps on its display. Now that’s a future I’d like to see with my own eyes.

Of course, such a device wouldn’t have any use for physical buttons (except maybe for an on/off switch placed on the back, hidden away from view). So the two pill-shaped buttons on the side likely wouldn’t be there on the real device, but the Touch ID (Home button) just might. Say the iHome panel also keeps your valuables locked in a safe. You wouldn’t want burglars to be able to use it, would you?
