The Silicon Valley Business Journal is reporting on a real estate move by Apple, which has leased around 300,000 square-foot (27,890 square-meters) of office space in San Jose, California.
These new offices are located in the 101 Tech campus, previously occupied by Atmel, later sold to Ellis Partners, a global real estate company.
Apple desperately needs the new space, since the company has hired 12,300 new employees since last year, around 8,900 of them working in its tech and office facilities (outside retail stores).
The town of San Jose is also in dire need of more income, and with Apple moving in its northern region, will be hoping to follow the path of other similar towns from Northern California, which are now tech centers for the entire world.
If you don't know where San Jose is situated in California, we provided a map in the gallery below, but Cupertino, Mountain View, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, and Santa Clara are all neighboring towns, so in the end, Apple won't be moving that far away, but merely 5.5 miles (9 km) from its current main headquarters.
Prior to buying this real estate, Apple has also bought three more properties in Sunnyvale, and two more in Santa Clara.
A video presentation for the new campus that Apple just leased can be seen below.
