aTV Flash (black), a software package that “supercharges” your second-gen Apple TV, has gone Final, with tons of new features for enthusiasts to use and love.

According to fireCore, the hackers behind aTV Flash, the tool is “simple to use and safe for your Apple TV. Installation is a snap and doesn’t require any physical changes to the AppleTV,” they note, though it does require that you jailbreak your set-top box. And wouldn’t you know it - they provide the necessary tools for that as well.

And all this for what, you ask? Well, as it turns out, aTV Flash (black) does provide a lot of new functionality (leaving the Apple TV’s existing features untouched), such as additional media formats, more menu system options, a web browser, Last.fm support, and the ability to access files directly from your computer or network drive (no iTunes needed, though you will need iTunes initially to jailbreak your device).
