Search giant gives iOS app the Retina HD treatment

Mountain View, California-based Google Inc. this week offers a fresh installment of the Google+ social networking platform in the form of an updated iOS client application that now supports the newest Apple hardware.

It’s a mystery to me how the smallest developers will update their apps to new resolutions the minute Apple confirms the specs, while companies with massive resources like Facebook and Google will procrastinate to the point where the user simply abandons all hope that their favorite app will ever display natively on their smartphone.

Whether you agree or not, Google is only now offering an updated experience tailored specifically for new iPhones, alongside some other new stuff.

Google+ version 4.8.0 arrives with Retina HD resolution support on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the ability to vote on polls from people and brands, and new options to easily share stuff to Google+ from your iDevice. The usual performance improvements and bug fixes are also mentioned in the release notes.

Google+ is localized in dozens of different languages and requires the user to be 17 years of age for access to the content being dished out on the network. Firmware-wise, it only needs an iOS 6 device to run. Download Google+ for your iDevice and take the new Retina HD UI for a spin.
