Automattic today deployed version 4.0.1 of its WordPress blogging application for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, featuring “performance improvements throughout the app to make your on-the-go posting experience simpler and smoother.”

Key enhancements in this update include improved performance of stats, an “Options” page that is easier to locate and access, fixed bugs that caused the app to freeze when you tried to update the settings to a given post, etc.

In fact, the release is mostly geared towards addressing issues with the blogging platform. A bug that stopped users from moving the cursor to the end of a line is also patched. So are bugs that broke the UI when you inserted a link in the post editor or crashed the app when you added a featured image to a post.

The update also increases the minimum required version of WordPress to 3.6 and addresses issues with the post editor malfunctioning if a link is inserted.

The developer ends the update saying, “If you enjoy using WordPress, please take a moment to write a review — your input is invaluable to us.” Download WordPress 4.0.1 on any device that works with iOS 7.0 (or newer) and start testing the new platform today.
