Recently acquired by Facebook, the messaging service has been experiencing downtime

WhatsApp users are no strangers to server outages, especially since the Facebook acquisition in February. The service is now acting up again, sporadically losing your connection in mid-sentence.

Outage reports are already beginning to emerge on Twitter, and the downtime seems to affect users on all platforms, including iOS and Android. The problem is characterized by intermittent loss of server connectivity. For example, at the time of this writing, WhatsApp Messenger went down and came back online three times. WhatsApp Status is mum.

This is the second time in less than three months that WhatsApp’s servers have problems. Just hours after the service was acquired by social networking giant Facebook, it collapsed for a brief period of time, leaving users worldwide unable to text each other, send photos or voice recordings, or share their location.

You can leave a comment below and tell us how WhatsApp is behaving in your territory, to help assess the situation. You can also mention your platform (i.e. device model and operating system) to draw a better picture of who was mostly affected by the outage.

Readers who are yet to use WhatsApp Messenger to text someone can start today by downloading one of the WhatsApp builds for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone, or Symbian.

Update: the service appears to be functioning normally now.
