VMware today announced Mac availability of its VMware View Client software as a technology preview. The iPad app has been updated to version 1.3.0 with several key enhancements.

The desktop solution, also deployed on Linux computers today, hopes to provide IT organizations with an easy-to-access, high-fidelity desktop virtualization experience optimized for individual devices.

The Mac client has been optimized for OS X Lion with support for Full Screen mode: “…Mac users can seamless switch between their Mac apps and their VMWare View virtual desktop with a swipe on the trackpad.”

The updated iPad client lets you connect up to 1080p (1920x1080) external displays and TVs and leverage Presentation Mode. There is also support for virtual higher resolutions to scroll a larger screen resolution display on a smaller resolution screen, and PCoIP bandwidth usage has been improved.
