Good news for iOS users as VLC, one of the most popular media players, is now available for download. This comes after months of debates between developers and Apple regarding some features that conflicted with some parts of the GPL license under which it was released back in September 2010.

The Next Web reports that the team behind VLC for iOS claims that it has managed to solve all these issues and is ready to bring back the application to App Store: “We worked hard with all major copyright holders to not repeat history and we are confident to have achieved this goal.”

Aside from allowing iOS users to download the application once again, developers have also included a small update that fixes some minor crashes and interface for iPhone 4. Russian and Spanish translations have been fixed as well.

VLC 2.0.1 is now available as a free download via Softpedia and it should be fully compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3, 4 and 5 generations) and iPad running iOS 5.1 and later.
