As we’ve announced earlier today, the famous, open-source, multi-platform, and powerful Media Player application has been officially announced by VideoLAN on February 27 with a great number of features, including the return of the VLC for iOS app, which has been updated to version 2.4.1.

VLC for iOS is supported on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, includes native support for connecting to Plex Media Servers, supports streaming from Google Drive and Dropbox cloud sharing services, allows users to search files within the local media library, a custom URL scheme, a table view mode on iPad devices, and support for on-the-fly synchronization of audio with video and subtitles.

On the other hand, VLC for iOS 2.4.1 introduces only some user interface improvements, updated decoders, as well as some reliability improvements for Wi-Fi sharing and UPnP. Download VLC for iOS from the iTunes Store and enjoy the screenshot tour below.

VLC 2.2.0 is also available for Mac OS X, it is dubbed "Weatherwax," and it is one of the biggest updates of the acclaimed VLC Media Player software. Highlights of this release include support for resuming videos from where you left off, the addition of some brand-new HD codecs (H.265/HEVC, VP9, Opus), support for extensions, and VLSub.
