The full-featured OS X Twitter client from Tapbots, Tweetbot has an attractive interface, sounds and animation, as well as multiple timelines and column views. Version 2 is on the way, according to an announcement released by Tapbots.

Tweetbot’s major perks are the multiple timelines that allow users to quickly move between lists, multiple windows and columns, Notification Center support, mute filters for pesky trolls, hashtags and specific keywords, the ability to sync timeline position, direct message read statuses and mute filters across devices, Retina graphics, and more.

Tweetbot integrates with the likes of Pocket, Instapaper, Readability, CloudApp and Droplr for saving interesting stuff from the people you follow. You can manage lists right within the app, add locations and points of interest, save drafts, attach photos and videos, and more.

Tweetbot 2 will be specifically geared towards Yosemite. Tapbots has so far kept a tight lid on the features, but it confirms in a brief Tweet that the client is coming and that it’ll be a free update for all existing users. We’ll let you know when it hits the wires.

In the meantime, if you like what you’ve already learned about Tweetbot, you can download the app right now from the Mac App Store. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth every penny if you do a lot of tweeting.
