Time Warner Cable Inc., one of the biggest cable operators in the United States, is preparing to ship an update to its existing iOS application to add live out-of-home programming, allowing users to watch shows anywhere.

iPhone and iPad users who download the new app will have access to Live channels including Aspire, BBC America, beIn, Big Ten Network, Fox News Channel, Fox business, FearNet, GMC, Pac-12 Network, and TV Guide Network. Other channels, such as MTV and Comedy Central, will offer video on-demand (VOD).

The TWC TV iOS app is free of charge, but you need to be on a Time Warner Cable Video subscription to access the live and VOD content.

According to Mike Angus, senior vice president and general manager, Video for Time Warner Cable, “The release of this TWC TV update is the next natural step towards our goal of giving customers even more of the content they love on every screen.”
