14 DAY TRIAL // Apple’s CEO was not short for words during yesterday’s conference call disclosing Apple’s earnings for Q4 – 2012. And that included the topic of Microsoft’s up and coming Surface tablet, which he believes is flawed.
Cook admitted that he hadn’t “personally played with a Surface” but that he’d been reading the news and gathered that “it’s a fairly compromised, confusing product.”
He said, “the toughest thing you do with a product is make hard trade offs.. we’ve really done that with the iPad.. the user experience is absolutely incredible… i suppose you could design a car that flies and floats, but i don’t think it would do all of those things well..”
Apple’s CEO reinforced his sincere belief that “when people look at the iPad over competitive offerings they are going to really want an iPad.”
To Microsoft’s credit, the Surface brings much more to the table in terms of combining the tablet experience with the desktop environment. But there seem to be a lot of bugs that need ironing out before the solution works as intended.
