New images emerge purporting to show Apple’s budget iPhone

There are tons of alleged plastic iPhone images making the rounds today, but not all of them are genuine. While none can be deemed as the real deal just yet, some of these leaks scream “fake.”

And that’s exactly what I believe is “First Leaked Images of the Budget iPhone” over at Tactus. The blog itself is alright, but this particular leak is god awful.

If you check out the high-quality video I showed you the other day, you’ll instantly spot a few key differences in the design of these enclosures. The case in the video shows tremendous craftsmanship, something Apple would do if it were to launch a new plastic iPhone.

The images from Tactus, on the other hand, show a cheap-looking plastic, off-center buttons and ports, some metal rings around the camera and Flash that shouldn’t be there in the first place, and a very thick font for the markings on the back.

The camera assembly in particular looks as if it’s been ripped out from a 5th-gen iPod touch and placed inside a knockoff iPhone shell. I’ll admit that the image quality isn’t great, but my gut tells me this one’s fake.
