This chain USB plugging setup could make things easier

Last month, Apple surprised everyone when it announced that its new Retina MacBook came bundling a single USB port of the Type-C variety. Thus the laptop became the first product to be made available in the wild with this standard.

But having a single port on a laptop is certainly not enough. In an earlier piece, we told you that the notebook would require many wired adapters in order to function to its full extent. Apple probably wanted to be at the forefront of innovation, but the world is just not fully ready to embrace USB Type-C yet.

Well, a certain Kickstarter project might bring a simple solution to the problem by providing a pass-through USB-C connector of sorts that allows users to chain together a bunch of external devices while keeping the USB port on the MacBook open.

The inventors of the accessory are calling it the InfiniteUSB-C. The system is a modernized version of the original InfiniteUSB, which is compatible with iOS, Android and other devices with USB ports.

The setup is devised so that whenever a new InfiniteUSB is plugged in, a new USB port will be created. This will certainly come in handy for users of the new MacBook. And let’s not forget Google’s Chromebook Pixel 2 (which comes with 2 USB Type-C ports). This product could benefit from it too.

Early birds will have to take only $20 / €18 out of their pocket if they want to grab an InfiniteUSB-C in various colors, which is fairly affordable.
