Targeting creatives and business users alike

KGI’s Ming Chi Kuo kicked off a rumor this month saying that Apple would deploy a stylus alongside the 12-inch iPad Pro, a larger version of the company’s flagship tablet computer that remains to be confirmed.

“Coupled with its unfavorable cost structure, high selling prices may turn consumers off if the 12.9-inch iPad is always bundled with it. We therefore expect the stylus to be an optional accessory before sufficient user feedback is received,” Kuo said in a research note.

It makes sense for the iPad Pro (if Apple is even working on one) to have an accompanying stylus, optional as it may be. Such a tablet would be geared towards specific customer bases, such as creatives, and business users.

For instance, most people who use iPads to draw already use a third-party stylus of their choosing. So why wouldn’t Apple release its own and make some extra cash?

Renders put forth by the very talented CAD artist Martin Hajek give us a pretty good idea of what the next-gen iPad will look like, along with the rumored stylus. As usual, during the creation of these mockups he took some cues from existing products, such as the digital crown from the Apple Watch, or the +/- buttons that currently serve as volume control for the headphones shipped by Apple.
