I’m not much of a supporter of the “cheap” iPhone theory being tossed around in the Apple blogosphere but, after looking at these images, I find myself wishing that it turns out to be true.

Dutch designer Martin Hajek has outdone himself with a bunch of concept images featuring two iPhone models dressed in a non-metallic lightweight enclosure with some nifty red and blue hues.

Many pundits say the incremental iPhone 5S will be the first to get some color, but Apple is also rumored to be developing a cheaper iPhone model with a glass-fiber case. Hajek’s designs envision the latter, with one model boasting a 4-inch display (identical to the iPhone 5), and another version with a 4.5-inch screen.

Both look astonishingly cool! Hajek’s images put a new spin on the low-cost iPhone rumor and, if anyone still thinks a plastic iPhone can’t look good in this day and age, they’d better think again.
