The Apple Watch might be expensive, but its clones are not

Apple’s first smartwatch has just gotten officially announced with bells and whistles. The wearable wants to provide a superior alternative to its Android Wear counterpart, albeit sporting a more consistent price tag.

The intelligent timepiece will be offered in three variations, including the (plain) Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport (the most affordable) and Apple Watch Edition (the most expensive).

Each edition comes in two models, in 38mm and 42mm form factors. The cheapest model of them all will be the Apple Watch Sport edition, with the 38nm version being offered for $348 / €320.

However, if you don’t really see the point of squeezing this amount of money from your budget for a watch, you’ll be glad to know that perfect knockoffs of the Apple Watch have already started popping up in China.

Perfect is actually an overstatement, but Chinese cloners have bundled their models with an OS that looks very similar to Apple’s Digital Crown.

If you’re in China, you can go ahead and pick up an Apple Watch clone for as low as $55 / €51, and you might even end up fooling those who don’t take a few seconds to analyze the device.

At a closer inspection, the replica is far from being as sleek as the real life Apple Watch and looks like something its creators have not put much thought into.
