Screeny intelligently detects screenshots and removes them

An inexpensive app from Noef Fing Name is capable of detecting screenshots on your iDevice and remove them on demand, freeing up space on that precious iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Screeny is admittedly a paid commodity, but it only costs $0.99 / €0.89. That’s a small price to pay for the convenience it offers. Especially if you work in IT or the media and you’re constantly fiddling with apps.

The utility does the simple task of “screening” your camera roll for screen grabs taken on that device. It then filters these out and offers to delete them. The developers offer a typical scenario where you might need to selectively get rid of images taking up space in your camera roll:

“Screenshots accumulate over time but there might be a case that you are working on a project currently and want to use or review them. So we have made it easy for you to select all screenshots except the last 15 days, select all except the last 30 or select all and clean them in one shot.”

Screeny will warn you if there are any photos older than 3 months on the device and offer to clean those up as well. However, it’s best to just make a backup first and foremost. Just in case you delete an important memory, a code, a receipt, or whatever.

Unfortunately, those still stuck on iOS 6 and even iOS 7 won’t be able to download Screeny. Heck, even for users of the original iOS 8 Screeny is off-limits, according to the requirements list. You’ll need iOS 8.1 to use it.
