A concept video making the rounds could be raising unfounded hopes

If you’re wondering what the next-generation iPhone will look like, there’s a truckload of concept videos available on YouTube that gives you a pretty good idea of what the public wants to see.

But that doesn’t mean Apple’s going to do those designs. Take for instance this iPhone 6 concept submitted by ConceptsiPhone.

An edge-to-edge display might work, but not in this form. For starters, the touch-enabled area around the Home button should either lose the Home button altogether, or at least allow Apple to do away with the slide-to-unlock feature in the software. Yet all three are presented as still available in this concept.

Another inaccurate prediction on behalf of the creators of this video is the actual design of the phones. Apple cannot, and will not push the screen edge-to-edge whilst leaving the upper and lower sides unattended to. The design is simply ugly this way.

Other things proposed in this concept that likely won’t see the light of day are: the iPhone "mini" thing; the trio of cameras; the 256GB storage capacity; and the $0 price tag for the base 16GB configuration. These are all wet dream material, and should be treated as such.

Apple is widely expected to unveil either an iPhone 5S or an iPhone 6 this fall.
