GM debuts new marketing campaign featuring the Chevrolet Sonic

General Motors has launched a new marketing campaign to introduce Siri Eyes Free to the public. If you want Siri to tell you jokes while you drive along the green pastures of your countryside, consider the Chevrolet Sonic.

Eyes Free allows drivers to activate Apple’s Siri personal assistant through the touch of a single button on the steering wheel on the 2013-model Chevrolet Sonic.

Apple had previously confirmed that the company was working with car manufacturers to integrate Siri into select cars through their voice control systems.

If you’re out to buy the new Sonic, do note that you also need an iPhone for the whole shebang to work. So add another 600 bucks to your bill if you’re not wielding an Apple smartphone yet.

As both GM and Apple will tell you, “Through the voice command button on your steering wheel, you’ll be able to ask Siri questions without taking your eyes off the road. To minimize distractions even more, your iOS device’s screen won’t light up.”

You can ask Siri to use Maps and get directions, call people, play your music, hear and compose text messages, have your notifications read out loud, etc.

Other car makers soon to feature Eyes Free support in some of their vehicles include BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Audi, Land Rover, Chrysler, Honda, and Toyota.
