The iPad mini with Retina display scored 1390 on the Geekbench 3 single-core test and 2512 on the multi-core test, making it about five times faster than the previous version.

Apple kicked off sales of the Retina iPad mini yesterday, and customers can pick one up at their local retail store, or have Apple deliver it to their door in 1-3 business days (5-10 days for the higher-specced models).

While the new iPad mini can be purchased in various configurations, depending on your storage and wireless needs, all models have the same A7 processor inside. According to a recent Geekbench 3 benchmark, the A7 processor is a huge jump over the A5 chip used in the original version of the iPad mini. A fivefold jump, to be precise.
